Coinable/Scratchable inks are designed to offer a security measure by which a printed image can be rubbed with a coin (nickel, dimes, quarters), or scratched with any hard object. The change is non-reversible, and available in several "transition" colors. The "scratchable" inks also offer thermal sensitivity (temperature color change) and/or can be UV tagged for MultiGuard processing. A more recent development is a two-layer scratch-off system that
does not require the use of release coats or silver/metallic cover coats.
